                      Waiheke Island

The smell of sea water dominates the air. In the water I could see pocket sized fish darting about like children on a playground. I could taste hot chocolate burning the back of my throat. Puffs of smoke from cars wafts through the air. The nippy breeze blows strongly. It is cold and windy and the trees blow around like wild monkeys jumping from branch to  branch . Green monopolises the scenery. The black, gravely road makes sounds when driven on. The roads wind all the way through the landscape. A small town takes centre stage in the middle of the island. Sandy beaches can be seen from miles back. A gentle breeze makes leaves sway from side to side.

The calm waves lap onto shore. “What if I put my feet in, would it be cold?” I thought. The sand was as soft as the feathers in a pillow. I could hear youngsters yelling from a nearby playground.
I could see different coloured shells laying across the hardened sand. I could hear birds singing the way the wind blew. I could smell nice cheese pizza.

The island is a bustling, lively and picturesque place to explore.
