Recount- Beachlands being chased by gorillas

Being chased by “gorillas”

“Wait what are those”

It was evening and us three nine year olds were ready to go get dinner. Ashley, Caroline and I launched ourselves into the car waiting for Carolines mum Katie to finish locking up the L shaped house. When Katie reached the car a few moments later, we buckled our seatbelts excitedly. We were getting hashbrowns and ice cream for dinner and dessert.

“LOOK OVER THERE!” Caroline exclaimed.
“What,” answered Ashley and I searching around out the window.
“Gorillas,” Caroline said and then we all chuckled wildly. The gorillas were tall figures. They were a light grey but had different features that were a pitch black. We bounced in our seats laughing our heads off. Some of the gorillas had their masks off since it was hot.

The gorillas waved as they noticed us staring and shrieking with laughter. The gorillas began to jog slightly following everywhere the car turned. We twisted our bodies to see the act behind us. The jog gradually changed into a sprint chasing the car. We waved extravagantly, our hands thwacking together. We noticed that they were getting closer and our hearts were beating fast with fear, shock and excitement. They neared even more and their fingers were centimeters away from sliding them down the shiny car. Then suddenly one of them tried to dive onto the car but only it’s arms managed to clutch then soon it lost grip .

Katie, who was looking from the side view mirror, laughed her head off at the gorillas running; she thought they were ridiculous until the jump. After the gorilla tried to jump Katie went quiet for a moment or two. Caroline,Ashley and I  got such a fright, our whole body was stuck to the back of the seat like some put a fan on full and stuck it in our faces. After that fearful moment the gorillas stopped to take a breath and as we kept driving they faded away until they were no longer seen.

We had arrived at the countdown car park and had found a spot.” wait here girls I won’t be long ``Katie said. The look in katies eye telling us don’t sneak out of the car and don’t be silly. After we had lost sight of Katie we took our seatbelts off and started dancing around. I climbed into the front seat thinking I’m the driver. Then I noticed the hefty gorillas strolling past staring in at us. I sunk all the way down in my seat, my cheeks blushing furiously. I was so embarrassed. The gorillas sniggered at me. I turned my face away, looking back at my friends for help but they just laughed. I didn’t turn my face around until my friends signalled me that they were gone. OMG they had to walk past then I thought to myself as my friends continued laughing.

When Katie arrived back at the car we told her and she chuckled as well.

“That’s funny!” Katie said as I groaned. We drove home giggling and dancing. We then talked and processed what just happened. That moment we will remember forever. Hopefully we won’t come face to face with them again. That was a crazy scary moment.
