baking soda and vinegar experiment

                                                Baking soda and vinegar experiment

Question - What I want to find out
We are trying to find out what happens when baking soda and vinegar combine
We are trying to find out if there will be a chemical reaction
Materials
  •  vinegar
  •  Baking soda
  •  Bottle
  •  Cork
Hypothesis - What I think will happen
I predict that it will bubble up alot and finally explode
Method - How I did the experiment
  1. First, I added the baking soda to the bottle using a funnel
  2. Second, I added some vinegar to the bottle
  3. Then, I quickly removed the funnel
  4. Next, added the cork to the top
  5. Finally, then waited
Observations - What actually happened (be really detailed - smell, colour, gases, heat, sound, movement)
At first the vinegar was still flowing down to the bottom
When the vinegar was mixed with the baking soda it turned bubbly and some bubbles started to pop as more came along, whilst it bubbled it started to rise it rose very high until...
There was a Bang and a Pop it pushed off the lid and sprayed out.
Conclusion - Explain what happened and why (you should research and read trustworthy websites before writing this part)

When the two mixtures combine together the molecules from each material mixed as well which caused a chemical reaction. The first reaction Is when the vinegar first meets the baking soda and what happened was the hydrogen ions from the vinegar react to the sodium and other ions in the baking soda it becomes carbonic acid (carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid when dissolved in water) carbonic acid is a gas a very strong gas that can extinguishes fires. This gas builds up inside the bottle and gets stronger and once all the gas has reached the top it explodes which would be the second chemical reaction in this experiment.
Variables: What if…? (Think about what you could do differently if you tried this experiment again (changing an ingredient, changing when or where your experiment takes place, etc).
What if I added more vinegar?
What if I added less baking soda?
What if I used cocoa instead of baking soda?
What if I used lemonade instead of vinegar?

the mouse chase- description of a sound

As the music begins sounds dramatic like there was something amazing about to happen. Then a small mouse starts to creep around casually in the kitchen like another normal day. Hopefully she's not seen especially not by the devilish cat.

The mouse finally finds what she was looking for, cheese. Then the cat comes up behind her making a shadow loom over her. Then the music gets faster and faster as the chase begins.

They run around the kitchen, the cat striking out her long sharp claws to catch the mouse but misses every time. The mouse is very good at getting out of the way of her claws. The mouse lost the cat and thought she was free but little did she know the cat was right beside her under the table. All of a sudden the cat grabbed the mouse and was going to eat her. Shocked, the mouse pushed and pulled and kicked and hit but struggled to get out of the cats grasp.

Luckily the animal lover Coco came in and saw the commotion. She yelled at the cat as the music got back to it’s quieter beats and let the mouse free. Then the mouse walked off casually to the beat giving a smug smile to the cat as the music started fading. Will the mouse be back?

code breaker

Here is another example of coordinates. This time, the letters and numbers are on the lines instead of between them.
For example, the letter T is at E9.
This is your Code Breaker. You will need to read the coordinates in the code to work out the secret message.

Task 1: Here is your code. Use the Code Breaker to work out the message.
The answer is: meet me after school at the gate
Task 2: Use the same Code Breaker to write 2 new coded messages. Each message should be between 6 - 10 words long.
Write your code like in Task 1 (one word per line), then write the answer.
Coded Message #1:
L11,E9,E6,N8
L11,E6, M10,D10
L11,E9, E6,N8
G8,D10,E6,B11, E9,G8, N8
G8,E6,K2,K2,N8
E6,H6,N2,E6,L7

The answer is: stay safe, stay healthy, happy anzac
Coded Message #2:
C4,D10,G11,A2,C4,M4,E6
E6,L11,G8,B11,D10,N8
L7,E6,A2,G11,B11,M4,H6,D10
I10,D10,L11,E9,
M10,A2,M4,D10,H6,G3,L11
M10,G11,A2,D10,C7,D10,A2

The answer is: Georgia, Ashley,Caroline best friends forever

why family is more important than friends persuasive writing

Why family is more important than friends

      Brainstorm
  • They always support you
  • They make sure you learn the right things
  • They make you feel secure

Paragraph 1 - introduction

I strongly believe that family is more important than friends. Here are three reasons why. First they always support you, secondly they make sure you learn the right things and lastly they make sure you feel secure. Let's enter these topics in more detail.

Paragraph 2 - they always support you

Family always supports you through anytime. Most of the time friends support you too but family supports you almost everyday. You might not realize it but it’s true. Everyday when you're at an after school activity or doing something at school they support you. Supporting doesn’t always mean cheering for you and helping you, it can also mean paying for something you do, getting supplies, getting involved, taking you to where you need to be. You just need to remember your family is always supporting you.

Paragraph 3 - they make sure your learning the right things

Family is always making sure you’re learning the right things but that doesn’t necessarily mean school work like reading and writing. It can be things like teaching you good manners, how to treat other people, how to teach your siblings things, how to be nice to your siblings, how to control yourself, how to work together and how to be tidy. I mean friends can teach and help you to do some of these things but they don’t do as much as families would. Always ask a family member if there is something you need help with.

Paragraph 4 - they make you feel secure

Family always makes you feel secure. By secure I mean, being secure inside family, about yourself, about others and about things around you. They can teach you these things by talking to you about it, telling you what happens with things like this, introducing you to others, telling you how you can do these things yourself. Usually they teach these things very early so you don’t have any problems later. Always tell your family if you feel insecure.

Paragraph 4 - conclusion

Now you should understand why I firmly believe that family is better than friends. Here are the reasons why, they support you, they make sure you learn the right things and finally they make you feel secure. I hope you have listened to my ideas and maybe you can thank your family for all they do.
