character description

Reindeer antlers - Your reindeer antlers won't stick around for long. Every year reindeer shed their antlers in the spring and summer. But don't worry, they grow back.

Fennec fox ears - Fennec foxes are the smallest of all canines but have the largest ears for their size. Your Fennec fox ears not only help you hear better, they'll help you get rid of extra body heat to keep cool in the hot African desert.

Bush baby nocturnal eyes - How well do you see in the dark? Now you have your very own night vision goggles, courtesy of your bush baby eyes.

Giant tree frog arms - Your sticky fingers are actually giant tree frog toe pads. They help you cling to trees and climb vertically anywhere you want.

Lion's mane jelly - Imagine having no eyes or brain but still having one of the most sophisticated weapons on earth. Lion's mane jellies have tentacles over 100 feet long, each one packed with tiny harpoons that inject prey with deadly toxins.

Monarch butterfly wings - Your monarch butterfly wings can beat five times per second. Can you flap your arms five times in one second

Suddenly appearing in front of my face, was an odd, ugly creature. This critter wasn’t any living thing I had ever seen before. It had a circular face with fennec fox ears. Her eyes were as big and round as beach balls. She had large pupils that were as dark as the pitch, black night. She had a mouth, eyebrows and a neck like a normal human. Her mouth was big and wide and she had braces. She had light pink highlights all around her face. She had long, brown antlers sticking out the top of her head which were slightly curved at the end. Her eyes glistened when the sun came through a crack in the roof.

She has a short and skinny neck. Her t-shirt was a dull, greyish pink.  The t-shirt had buttons at the top the went halfway up the neck. Her hands were webbed and sticky like a frogs. Her arms were as green as the grinch's body. They were long and stretched. The bottom part of her body was afloat. The top hip part of it was like the edge of a skirt. Below that were straggly fish tentacles that were as floppy and wavy as a mop. The colour of her fish tentacles was grey, white and strips of blue. She has bulky butterfly wings on her back. They were orange with black lines which circular, oval shapes all over them.

Suddenly she spoke. She mumbled things I didn’t understand. It sounded like she had learnt a language from an alien planet far away into the universe. Every once in a while she would bleat like a goat extremely loudly. Instead of walking she would float in the air. She would hunch over her shoulders and keep her chin up when she floated. Her arms would slowly move all over the place when she took flight.

She then reach one arm up by her ear and flew out of the cave like superman. Then she disappeared into thin air. I wonder where she is now? Would anyone else see her? Will she be seen again? Well we’ll never know unless you follow the future ahead of you.

It was a blistering, sunny day when my friends and I experienced the Beach lands.  As we arrived I saw the L shaped house we were going to be staying in and the view of the beach. The house had glass sliding doors all around and on the inside there was a massive part of grass surrounded by a deck.  The house looked amazing so far. My friends and I stepped inside and what a sight, it was astonishing! They had tiles in the kitchen and concrete tiles throughout the rest of the house apart from the living room which was carpet. There were four bedrooms in the house all nicely made up, ready for us. I could smell the salty sea and chocolate brownies all around me. Ashley’s family had come to stay for the afternoon.

When we found the room we wanted to sleep in, we dumped our bags down and talked for a while. Then we got changed into our togs and bundled in the car.  After we headed down to the beach and the wharf. We splattered on some sunscreen and instantly felt all greasy and slippery. My friends and I walked along the path and used the crossing. Then we dashed across the hot, soft sand and into the water. The water was as cold as melted ice.  After we had gotten wet we raced up to the wharf. Ashley and I jumped off the smaller part first whilst Caroline plummeted off the higher one. After one turn down below, Ashley and I went to the high one. Ashley leaped off the high one first while I just stood there shaking like maracas in a music show. Eventually it was only Caroline and I standing on the wharf, then 3 2 1…..splash!  I had dropped down into the water. “Wow it is warm!” I thought as I doggy paddled to keep afloat. Then I went over to the stairs and got back on.
“Hey you did it!” hollered Caroline.
“I know it was fun” I said.

Caroline and I had a few more jumps and then headed back to the bench we had found to sit on by the sand for an afternoon snack. I had told Ashley that I’d jumped off and she replied ”Finally, that took you ages”. We dried off a little then watched as Ashley’s brother, Daniel attempted to fly off the wharf. We encouraged him to jump and then splosh he jumped, “Woo hoo” we all roared. After a few more swims we headed off.

We had entered the house and Caroline had rushed off to find her i-pad to show Ashley and I a funny talking chicken named Janet.  It started off like this, “Hello, me name’s Janet and I like to talk about fluffy bum bum feathers”. We all started to chuckle. Then Ashley’s family had to leave. They said goodbye then left. We started to relax a little in the bedroom watching stuff on the chromebook.  After a while we started to get bored so we went outside and searched up songs to make up a dance to. We had chosen the song, ‘Better when I’m Dancing’ and then started to make some of it up. After a while we had dinner, hash browns “Yum yum”we thought. We had finished dinner and had brownies with chocolate milk for dessert. Then we brushed our teeth, got into our pj’s and went to read for an hour in our beds. When the hour was up, Caroline’s mum Katie said  “Stop reading, lights out.” We pretended to sleep and whispered for ages when she came to check on us we would also pretend to sleep. After awhile, Katie went to sleep… apparently she’s a deep sleeper. A little bit later we had the nerve to check and see if the lights were off, they were so we went into the kitchen and grabbed Ashley’s chromebook and raced back. We played a game on the homepage of Google because Ashley wasn’t connected the internet. We finally were brave enough to go out into the cook’s room and get some sugar because we thought it was necessary to get some to stay awake.

We looked for a while for the sugar then found it in a cupboard in the corner.  We got caster sugar and icing sugar, with a couple of spoons and the box of brownies. Then we went back into the room and started to eat our treats.  I didn’t like the caster sugar but the icing sugar was ok. After a bit we put the stuff back.

In the morning we woke up and talked for ages then Katie came in and we all went into the living room and played a game of Uno. Then it was breakfast time.We made pancakes but first we had to make the mix. First we had to get the ingredients out which were an egg, milk, flour, baking powder salt, sugar and butter. We each got to put two                ingredients in each, then we mixed. After the mixture got stirred enough, we poured it into the mini pan and let it cook. My pancake was the first one to be made. After the six were made (two for each one of us) we started to scoff them down,Katie started to make some chocolate milk for us. We got dressed and went outside and did our dance. Then we came inside and got dressed into our swimming togs and headed down to the beach.

The water was freezing cold and we didn’t even want to go in, but we did jump off the wharf. After that we went to a playground area with our scooters, there was a wide pathway leading to a skate park. We scooted down the steep path, I zoomed so fast. Coming up ahead was some long metal poles covering a hole, I couldn’t slow down and then wibble wobble wibble wobble I went half way across then I dived of my scooter and nudged my scooter the opposite way.  “Are you ok georgia “ both of them shouted “Yup I’m fine” I replied . We got closer to the skate park. Then we came across a field there was a touch rugby tournament going on. The beach was behind it so we went out to dip our feet in. We got further in and had to lift our shorts up. After we got out of the water we were really itchy we headed back to the car. When we arrived we had a drink of water and chucked our scooters into the boot. We headed off to the house for lunch after we had lunch we went to the lookout it was on a hill. When we arrived at the farm there were sheep and cow there was a lot of poo me and Ashley were screaming because we didn’t like it. We walked for ages and stop up on a steep hill with a bench to sit on. No one told me that the walk was so far and I got mad in a weird way and Caroline started to laugh.

A while later we arrived at Countdown for ice creams and treats. We returned home and Katie made us dinner the same as last night hash browns we ate then we had ice creams and  went back outside and practiced our dance. We entered the house around 8:20 then we got onto our pajamas and brushed our teeth we read for an hour and when time was up we had to pretend sleep because Katie was right outside the door waiting for us to fall to sleep. We eventually fell to sleep.

The next morning we had leftover hash browns and got ready and packed up fast. We had to leave today and Ashley was going on a boat to Rangitoto Island. So while Katie packed everything else for the family coming back ,we got our scooters and scooted around we weren’t allowed to go to Countdown but we snuck our wallets and went anyway. when we arrived at Countdown we went to the lolly section and hurriedly chose lollies, I chose skittles. We headed back really fast and hid our treats in our bags. On the ride home we played games and ate food from the bags in front of us.  We dropped Ashley off first since she had to go, then Katie dropped me off.

This experience was an adventurous, sneaky, fun time.  I wish to come again some time.
