Georgia

Introduction -
Humans, like all living things, go through various stages of development throughout their lifespan.  Human life begins in the mother's stomach and ends when a person is elderly. Humans take time to grow physically and mentally.

Paragraph 1-egg and baby
The egg we start in is clear, and see through and is nestled in a mother’s uterus.  The embryo develops into a small baby.  A baby grows for nine long months inside its mother. The mother eats lots and lots of delectable food that helps the baby to grow. Then, when it is time, the baby is born and its life in the world begins.  The baby is fragile and helpless when it first born and relies heavily on its mother for survival.  Overtime, it grows bigger and stronger and can achieve small milestones such as: holding its head up, sitting up, rolling over, making a variety of noises and eating mushy food.

paragraph 2- toddler and kid
Next, a baby will grow and grow and grow, eventually to the stage of a toddler. A human is called a toddler between the ages of one and three years old.   Toddlers become more independent and learn to walk and run. They can also communicate through talking and are capable of understanding conversations, body language and facial expressions.  Toddlers can be very demanding, emotional and unreasonable.  They can become upset easily when they get frustrated or don’t get their own way.  At the age of four, a human enters the next phase in development, becoming a child.
A child is usually classified as anyone between the ages of 4 and 12. When humans are 4,5 and 6 they begin to be more independent and grow friendships. When humans are 7-12 they are able to read and write and do a variety of mathematics. Their ability to problem solve, follow instructions, complete tasks and think reasonably improves.

paragraph 3- teenager and young adult
After that, our body starts to change and develop so that we look more mature. Teenagers are quite moody and always want to be out with their friends to show their independence. Teenagers are able to learn how to drive and get their licence. They take on increasing responsibility. They take charge of their own goals. However their decision making skills may not always be perfect as they lack the life experience of an adult. They also go out to find their true love.

Paragraph 4 - adult/middle age human

At 18 years of age humans are declared an adult.  Adults are old enough to live on their own and be completely independent and make their own choices. When humans are adults they have many jobs and responsibilities like: taking care of a baby if you have   one, doing many household jobs and also finding an actual job themselves (if they don’t have kids or the kids go to school). They have to earn their own money to pay for their own food, clothes, a house, household items and many more things. Adults are able to do what they want to, unless it’s against the law. They also have to pay bills like: water, electricity, insurance and rent or a mortgage.

Paragraph 5-elderly

Humans that grow older and become weak and fragile are called elderly. Elderly humans can be grandparents. They rely more on family and friends. They can go to retirement or rest homes and get supervised and looked after. They usually retire from jobs. Sometimes elderly humans get really sick or develop different illnesses.  They’re also likely to get dementia. Finally when they get extremely old, frail and powerless, they pass away.

Paragraph 6- conclusion
Humans go through many stages of development throughout their lifespan.  Each stage can be rewarding and challenging.

my speech and references

Fairytales are good for young children

                                              Introduction
Don’t you think fairy tales are amazing? I definitely do. Fairy tales should be read to every child in the world in my opinion.  I’m sure that all of you listening have heard a fairy tale before right?. Fairy tales have good lessons that could help you in life when you are older. Fairy tales are entertaining, they help to develop imagination and creativity skills, they teach children morals and they teach kids to deal with conflict and emotions. Albert Einstein, a famous inventor once said, “If you want your child to be intelligent, read them fairy tales, if you want them to be more intelligent ,read them more fairy tales.”  Not only you can read fairy tales but you can also watch them, which makes the experiences of a fairy tale twice as much fun than they already are. Hopefully by the end of my speech you will be convinced that fairy tales are magnificent.

Fairy tales help to develop a child's imagination and their creativity skills

When children read or watch a fairy tale a burst of imagination comes into their brain and their creativity skills expand and expand.  When a child reads a fairy tale they gain new ideas and think of new creations that could work in their everyday lives. If you haven’t read a fairy tale, you’re missing out!  A child’s fantasy comes from imagination. They also use their creativity skills to think of weird and wonderful things. Now I'll tell you some fairy tales that will make your imagination grow. First of all, Cinderella. In this narrative a pumpkin turns into a carriage, mice turn into horses and a fairy godmother appears…. WOW.. what a world full of fantasy.  That’s not the only fairy tale, there are many more. Hansel and Gretel…. ahh….. a house made of gingerbread decorated with candy, sweets and chocolate... mmmm, boy I love chocolate!  Now the Gingerbread Man I mean a gingerbread man who can come to life and run away I’ve never seen that happen in my life. Finally Beauty and the Beast.  You're probably thinking what’s so imaginative about beauty and the beast? Well, I’ll tell you! There is a candle and a clock that come to life and sing and dance, the beast turns into a prince and at the end, all the tea cups, the clock, the candle, everything that talked in this narrative turns back into a human.

                     Fairy tales are entertaining
Fairy tales are full of fun they give you memories of times you read or watched your favourite one. This is why I think they are super entertaining. Having fun is the key when reading and watching a fairy tale. It takes you into the story, and you feel like your actually in the story when you’re just sitting in bed. You feel like the characters are there to see you and are talking with you. Don’t you think that’s fun? If fairy tales weren’t fun no one would read them. That would be disgraceful. Hopefully every time you read a fairy tale you can laugh or have fun in some way. Some fairy tales that are entertaining and made me laugh were the cat from puss n boots, when he was put in the movie shrek he said "How dare you do this to me, you four-legged bag of meat!" after he had fallen off donkey. When the princesses Cinderella and Snow White talk to animals I thought that was pretty entertaining.

                Fairy tales teach children morals
Fairy tales are jam packed with morals, which are technically lessons or messages that are taught.  They will teach you about wrong from right and messages on good and evil and love and loss which will  rub off on you. For example, Cinderella teaches you kindness towards all matters. In beauty and the beast, the reader is taught to be kind, even if someone looks different or they have disabilities you should be nice to anyone and everyone. Hansel and Gretel teaches you to be wary of strangers.

They teach children to deal with conflict and emotions
Lastly, fairy tales help to teach children to deal with conflict and emotions.   You’re probably thinking, how do they help us with these things? well haven’t you seen characters cry in fairy tales haven’t seen them fight, if not this is for you. Conflict, there’s always a bit of conflict in fairy tales.  For example, in Sleeping Beauty, she had to fight off the wicked witch after she awoke from her snooze.Emotions everyone has them, especially some fairy tale characters. Characters can be sad, happy ,frustrated, depressed , angry and many more….. just like you. You can feel sad, happy or any emotion and you can deal with it by using what some of the characters did.

                                            Conclusion
Overall, I think that fairy tales are a wonderful thing!  They are good for younger children and everyone should read or watch them. They are entertaining, they help kids to develop their imagination and creativity skills, they teach children morals and help them deal with conflict and emotions. Hopefully you agree with what I have said.  Go and read or watch a fairytale NOW!!!

Well done Georgia.  Your speech was extremely well written.  You used amazing vocabulary, relatable examples and good quotes.  Try to slow down a little and use a bit more volume. Next time we’d have to take out some parts of your speech to make it fit the time limit.

Walt: write a setting description

 santorini the greek islands

Georgia-
Paragraph 1 - Atmosphere -
It was an idyllic, sunny and vibrant place, ideal for holidaying at.  The sun beamed down brightly and warmed the atmosphere like an oven. Everywhere was bright filled with colour.

Paragraph 2 -
Houses stretched out as far as the eye could see. The houses were detailed in with extraordinary patterns. The houses were built up to high standards and were well cared for. Vibrant Blue and white covered the houses. The houses were made out of cold, hard concrete.
The dwellings were built high on a mountain and towered all the way up like trees in a forest. The rooftops were in shape of domes. Concrete stairs lead pathways in between each house and the streets. Denim, blue jeans hung of a ledge and dried off in the blazing hot sun. this bizarre place is located in santorini, in the greek islands.

Paragraph 3-
Below the dwellings is the bright, blue ocean. The sea surrounds every edge of the island. The smell of salt water fills the air. You can see massive island far from the shore. Colossal rocks towered on the mountain turn dark shades of grey and brown when the water takes over. Water gets lighter as it stretches out further. Boats, canoes, and other travelling vessels, cruising around the islands edge.

paragraph 4-
It’s sunny and with a slight breeze good for flying kites. The sky is a bright blue colour. Fewer clouds sit above the island. The clouds look as soft as marshmallows. The sun’s arms reach down and wrap a blanket around us. This santorini setting is a wonderful luminous place.

One afternoon, Mum, Dad, Harper and Max were having a nice picnic near a wooden bridge it looked to be well managed  and could hold around 30 people. The kids and asked the parents if they could go for a splash in the lake that was beneath the bridge. The parents said yes and then they changed into their togs and jumped in. 20 minutes later, they saw a few people across the lake doing  human cannonballs. But then Harper scared Max and told him that you would die if you went in it, and then he started crying, she reassured him and told him it was a joke . There were many children at the lake that day having fun in the sun. then came a pushy Kid from their school. Harper and Max had an excuse to go to the toilet so they didn’t have to be around pushy kid. The pushy kid was mean and he had the force like yoda. Max,harper and pushy kid had a long discussion between themselves. After they  jumped with joy as they solved the problems between them.

I rate our prediction a 3 1\2 out of 10. We got the part about them going on a picnic and jumping off a bridge right but everything else was wrong
